Join Marney Reid and Dr. Camilo Molina as they discuss the importance of developing your EQ not only for your career, but for your personal development as well. This isn’t an easy process and is something that will continuously be a work in process, but the outcome of increasing your EQ is more than worth the work.

Camilo Molina, MD, FAANS

Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery and Orthopedic Surgery

Director of Spine Innovation

Director of Spinal Deformity and Oncology

Co-Director of Patient Safety and Quality

Co-Director of Complex Spine Fellowship

Medical Co-Director of Barnes Jewish Hospital Integrated Spine Unit

Dr. Molina is a spine fellowship-trained neurosurgeon with dedicated complex spine deformity and oncology training. He specializes in the entire spectrum of spine disease, but has a unique interest in spinal tumors and spinal deformities. He has an active laboratory devoted to the study of spinal cord injury, spinal oncology, spinal deformity, and enabling spine surgery technologies.

His clinical and research vision converges on the mission of providing his patients an avenue to return to their lives in the least disruptive manner.  He is an expert and lead developer in novel robotic and augmented reality spine surgery solutions. He was a leader on the clinical design team that ultimately led to the FDA approval and performance of the first augmented reality mediated spine procedures in the United States.

Dr. Molina’s outlook on leadership is to use empathy in every aspect of decision making and teaching. His mentors showed him early on that EQ plays a strong role in leaders who create an inclusive and productive teaching environment and strives to emulate their teaching in his leadership style.  While Dr. Molina says the road to developing EQ has been very intentional, he believes anyone at any moment can begin their journey to develop as a leader and a patient care giver.
