Vinay Aggarwal MD

Assistant Professor, Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Associate Fellowship Director of  Adult Reconstruction at NYU Langone Health

Dr. Vinay K. Aggarwal is an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at NYU Langone Health.  He grew up in Bethesda, MD where he attended Walt Whitman High School. He attended Boston University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with double majors in Economics and Medical Sciences. He was part of the Seven-Year Medical program and went on to Boston University School of Medicine. Between his third and fourth years of medical school, he completed a yearlong research fellowship at The Rothman Institute at Thomas Jefferson University Department of Adult Reconstruction. He attended NYU-HJD for his Orthopaedic surgery residency in New York City and completed his Adult Reconstruction Clinical Fellowship at Stanford University. He enjoys following his native DC sports teams and outdoor activities, food and drinks, with friends and family in his free time.

He is passionate about the topic of burnout in his role training medical students, resident, and fellows. He believes constant communication and mentorship as well as sponsorship and feedback sessions are the key to feeling fulfilled at work and managing a work-life balance to prevent burnout during career aspirations.

Joshua Rozell MD

Associate Professor, Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Chief of Orthopaedics

NYU Langone Health – Brooklyn

Dr. Joshua C. Rozell is a native of Long Island, New York and migrated south to Emory University where he studied neuroscience and behavioral biology. He then went to Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia and remained there for residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado. He joined the NYU faculty in 2019 and now serves as the Chief of Orthopaedics at NYU Brooklyn and the director of patient reported outcomes research. He completed the Insall Travelling Fellowship in October 2023 and is currently the first American Joint Replacement Registry research fellow. He just celebrated his 11 year anniversary with his wife Amanda, and has two amazing daughters Charlotte (8) and Remi (4).

Burnout is one of those topics that is omnipresent at all levels of medical training but is rarely talked about. Dr. Rozell believes that identifying signs of burnout early in practice and normalizing discussions of work-life integration are critical to surgeon development and well-being. Ultimately feeling satisfied and fulfilled at work provide a framework for meaningful contributions to the field of orthopaedic surgery.
